I. Before going for an interview, ensure you have the following:

1. New haircut.
2. Clean and short nails.
3. Starched shirt or blouse.
4. Cloth suitable for the meeting, e.g., black suit.

II. Questions to have in mind before the interview

1. Do you understand the position you are applying for?
2. What makes you different from other applicants?
3. What are the Five qualities that make you a good fit for the job?
4. Why do you want to work with the company?
5. Why should the company hire you?
6. What skills and experience do you possess that makes you the best candidate for the job?
7. What education qualification do you possess that qualifies you for the position?
8. Do you have any hobby outside of work that makes you a suitable candidate?
9. What are your key achievements during school and previous job?
10. Can you go over information on your application with details?
11. Can you accurately fill information such as employment history, addresses, names, and dates for each position?

III. Things to do shortly before the interview

1. Prepare for the interview by practicing possible questions with a friend.
2. Have a list of at least three names with contacts to use as referees.
3. Do your research to know more about the company and the service they offer.
4. Check your network to see if you know anyone who works for the company that can help with useful tips for the interview.
5. Make a list of questions for the interviewer.
6. Get detailed information on directions to the venue for interview, ensure you arrive on time, at least 30 minutes before the interview time.
7. Research the remuneration range for the position you are applying; this will give you an idea on offer to expect.
8. Prepare for the interview, ensure you appreciate the interview and show interest in the position you are applying for.

IV. What to bring to the interview?

1. Go along with extra copies of your resume.
2. A list of references which could be a letter of reference or their contact information.
3. Written assessment of performance at work.
4. A briefcase to hold your notes, pens or other materials.
5. An appointment book.
6. Letter for previous achievements.
7. Personal compensation history.
8. A portfolio containing samples such as designs, writing samples or products created or sold.
9. Go with your transcript if you graduated from college recently.
10. A list of possible questions to ask the employer.
11. Go with additional papers such as a driver’s license, passport or security card.

V. The day of the interview

1. Arrive at the venue early, at least 10 to 15 minutes. Ensure you freshen up if the need arises.
2. Inform the receptionist about your interview appointment, be polite, this will give the receptionist a good first impression.
3. Be friendly but professional during the interview. Pay attention 80% of the time, while 20% you do the talking.

VI. Follow up

1. Write a letter and send to the interviewer by mail thanking them for their time and also reminding them how interested you are for the position.
2. If you did not receive feedback after the first interview, contact the organization to receive a status update on your interview.
